That specific idea for a Meetup could not be found, or no longer exists.
Sent an email to Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to see where we might be able to do a night hike, preferably on a full moon (or fullish moon) night. Any ideas for location? Interest? August 24th (a Tuesday) will be the 'Full Sturgeon' moon, and September 23rd (a Thursday) will be the 'Full Harvest' Moon - so if we aimed for fullish moons - we could do Saturday August 21st or Saturday September 25th.
Anybody want to do a weekend on the Niobrara? I'm thinking July or August? And if anyone has a favorite outfitter group, please let me know! Thanks!!

Tubing and Adventures provides a Saturday or Sunday float trip down the Elkhorn River or a 2 day overnight trip. The prices seem pretty affordable. I know someone mentioned tubing before. Just a thought.
Is anyone interested in going whitewater rafting in Colorado in July? There's a great place in Cotopaxi called the Arkansas River Tour. There's also a KOA nearby that has fairly good priced cabins.
If there's enough interest we can set up a bit of a caravan for heading out there.
Working off of Tyna's idea, I've done some more digging.
Because of the early flooding this year, it had filled up the outfitter's schedule until Labor Day weekend (Sept 4, 5, 6), unless people are willing and able to do a Friday afternoon (which I figure isn't very likely).
After speaking with the owner, there are some changes this year. First, no deposit (was $5). In addition, the price has changed to $18 per person, which will also cover the cost of a cooler tube, which holds a 52 qt. cooler (you supply the cooler). The cost of the cooler tube is typically $21).
The trip lasts 4 - 5 hours. We leave vehicles at the end point and the outfitter carries us and tubes to the start point.
I'm shooting for Saturday, Sept 4. Remember, this is Labor Day weekend. There isn't a minimum number of people required, so........it could be 2 or 20.....up to you. ;-)
If there is anybody interested in a long day outing close to home, and weather/flooding permitting, we could kayak/canoe/tube down the platte this weekend. I have done this a couple times before, but never from two rivers to schramm.
I have two kayaks, and might be able to borrow another. If anybody else is interested, let me know. Are there any others with kayaks or big float tubes?

I would love to go boating or jet skiing. Being new to the area, I'm not sure where to go. Also, I do not own a boat or jet skis..
Maybe someone out there does. If we could get a group together, I'd be more than happy to provide refreshments! ;)
I think we should meet up and try some geocaching! I've done it a few times, and it's a pretty nice saturday afternoon activity. I have a handheld GPS, and am willing to share. Also there's a ton of geocaches in the area
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.

Looking at outfitters to do a 1 1/2 to 2 day rafting with camp-out overnight on the Arkansas River.
Thought would be to drive out on a Friday, sleep in the Denver area (contacted some friends for possible floor space at their homes, but info on your friends/family in the area helpful too), then get up early and drive to meeting site on Saturday morning for rafting, night out camping (with meals and some amenities provided by outfitter) and then 1/2 to full day of additional rafting on Sunday. Depending on end time, would either drive back Sunday or Monday, with another night on someone's floor in Denver area on Sunday if needed.
Let me know interest for leaving Friday August 13th, rafting 14th and 15th, and driving back 15th or 16th. Most outfitters offer 10% for groups of 10-11 or more.
Trip costs are looking like $180-$300 dollars depending on equipment/amenities, plus share of the gas and dinner/little gift for folks who'll let us sleep on their floors.
