    Tubing down the Elkhorn

Working off of Tyna's idea, I've done some more digging.

Because of the early flooding this year, it had filled up the outfitter's schedule until Labor Day weekend (Sept 4, 5, 6), unless people are willing and able to do a ... Read moreFriday afternoon (which I figure isn't very likely).

After speaking with the owner, there are some changes this year. First, no deposit (was $5). In addition, the price has changed to $18 per person, which will also cover the cost of a cooler tube, which holds a 52 qt. cooler (you supply the cooler). The cost of the cooler tube is typically $21).

The trip lasts 4 - 5 hours. We leave vehicles at the end point and the outfitter carries us and tubes to the start point.

I'm shooting for Saturday, Sept 4. Remember, this is Labor Day weekend. There isn't a minimum number of people required, so........it could be 2 or 20.....up to you. ;-)

    Tubing and Fun

Tubing and Adventures provides a Saturday or Sunday float trip down the Elkhorn River or a 2 day overnight trip. The prices seem pretty affordable. I know someone mentioned tubing before. Just a thought.

    Kayak/Canoe/Tube down Platte River

If there is anybody interested in a long day outing close to home, and weather/flooding permitting, we could kayak/canoe/tube down the platte this weekend. I have done this a couple times before, but never from two rivers to schramm.

I ... Read more have two kayaks, and might be able to borrow another. If anybody else is interested, let me know. Are there any others with kayaks or big float tubes?

    Boating/Jet Skiing

I would love to go boating or jet skiing. Being new to the area, I'm not sure where to go. Also, I do not own a boat or jet skis..

Maybe someone out there does. If we could get a group together, I'd be more than happy to ... Read moreprovide refreshments! ;)

    Geocache

I think we should meet up and try some geocaching! I've done it a few times, and it's a pretty nice saturday afternoon activity. I have a handheld GPS, and am willing to share. Also there's a ton of geocaches in the area ... Read more

    Softball

I don't really know much about it in this area, but was wondering if anyone would be interested in setting up a softball league for this spring/summer?

    Snow Skiing

I am going to put together 1 maybe 2 ski trips this winter. The two nearest resorts that I know of are the Snowy Range Ski Area: http://www.snowyrangeski.com/index.html, and the Eldora Mountain Resort: http://www.eldora.com/. Both are ... Read more8.5 hours from Omaha. Personally I find the pre-Christmas time frame too hectic for ski trips and I would prefer going anytime in Jan-Mar. If interested, please post or send me the dates you will be available to go. I have not been to either resort and I certainly don't feel constrained to these resorts if some of you have more preferred resorts compatible with the dates available for all parties interested in going. Naturally, this is early for planning ski trips; so, I will not expect people to know their schedules in advance and I am primarily interested in the number of people that want to go at this time for the purposes of planning only. If you know your schedule and can commit to dates at this time, all the better.

    Backpack

I have three nights reserved at the Rocky Mountain National Park Aug 23-25 to backpack to Thunder Lake. It is a 6.5 mile hike up 2,200 feet. It will not be a beginner trip. The 3 nights I have reserved can be changed; therefore, I am ... Read morelooking for people that would like to go and the days they could go. If others are able to go, I can change the reservations for the days that work. The weekend of 13-15 Aug does not work for me. Week days will be easier to get the desirable camp grounds but more people will likely be able to go over weekends. I will drive up the night before and spend the night near Estes Park. The permit has to be picked up by 10:00A the first day. I have room for one other person. The only cost to you will be the park entrance fee ($20) and travel money. Bear canisters are mandatory; you can rent them in Estes Park for 15-20$. For appearances of propriety, I will not go with just one woman. I know, I flatter myself; my wife and I are old school.
