Night Hike @ Hitchcock

Yep you read it right! We've finally put together a night hike and it will be at the Hitchcock Nature Center in Honey Creek, IA starting at 6:30PM.

The park doesn't close till 10PM so that should give us plenty of time to get a nice invigorating hike in. They're is supposed to be a full moon this night. So we should have some adequate light hopefully and be able to catch a nice glimpse of some stars.

We will meet at the lodge, signs will direct you where to go.

Note: Make sure to bring a headlamp or flashlight if you have one just in case. Also, dress for the weather as it might be fairly chilly out. Trail maps will be provided.

The entrance fee is $2 per car unless you have an annual pass.

If we stay out longer than 10PM I've talked with the park ranger and he will leave the gate unlocked for us.

      “ WoW! I'm so glad everyone showed up for this event. The hike was an invigorating night hike through Hitchcock Nature Preserves Loess Hills trail system. We took the parks most strenuous trails which added some challenge which was great. The full moon guided us through the park, rarely did people need to use lights. I'm planning another one of these so keep an eye out. ”
