What We Are All About
We are a group that lives, breathes and seeks out fun! No more complaining that there isn't anything to do in the Midwest.
Our goal is simple, to create a fun, safe and active environment for men and women of all ages to grow, learn and have an outdoors outlet. We engage ourselves in a variety of activities ranging from multi-day backpacking trips to river kayaking, from a few people to larger crowds depending on the activity of course.
We are not professionals; we are just regular people that are tired of letting life pass us by.
Joining Our Group Joining the Nebraska Adventure Group is simple. Everyone that Joins goes through an approval process and anyone can join that has a desire for
ADVENTURE! When you do join, we ask a few questions. Please fill these out. It's a great way to find out what you are into and what kind of skill level you may have. It also helps us to weed out the people that aren't here for the right reasons. We are serious about what we do here and we'd like to have people that feel the same way.
This site is to promote outdoor events and fitness. A recent picture of yourself is very helpful when we are looking for you at a Meetup. Please use a picture of yourself or at least have one available on here so we do know who we are communicating with.
Cost Membership is an annual $12.00 and helps us to be able to provide the amount of diverse activities we do along with throughout the year to be able to provide discounts on gear, workshops & activities.
The goal of this group is to provide maximum entertainment for the least amount of money. However, there will be times that a fee will need to be collected to pay for entry fees, gas, rentals, etc. We will do our best to have those costs listed up front with all events.
Events We'll add any event to the schedule that interests us, and ANYONE can make a suggestion. Just mention it on the
Message Board or the
Ideas section and if there is enough interest we'll try to add it to the calender. If you want something posted immediately, then please gather all the needed information and offer to host. I'll put it up
ASAP.
Please use the Trip Planning Form when submitting.

Abilities We encourage all levels of fitness to join the group. However, please have a rough idea about your level and if you can complete the event you are considering. We will try to match you up to someone that is also at your level. For the very strong or fast, add weight or resistance that will slow you down a bit. If you are lacking in ability or lack of proper gear, please ask for help. If you know you are slower, then prepare ahead of time so the rest are not waiting on you. Bathroom breaks, phone calls, normally can be timed better.
All events are at your own risk. You make your own decisions and we accept NO responsibility for your actions or judgment.
Participation and Preparation Before you come out... Check all of your gear. Some events require more than others. Bicycling, for example… check the air in your tires and whether or not it will shift gears. Do so, at least a week in advance so you will have time to get it to the shop. Backpacking requires a lot of gear. And some of it is expensive. The goal is to be self sufficient. However, your organizer will have a complete set. And other members will have extra gear laying around. Speak up if you are in need. You don’t want to hold up the group unnecessarily. Once or twice will be forgiven. However, much more, then you become a nuisance. Be courteous and respectful of the group’s time. Be sure you are ready first or get on the trail a few minutes early if you are slow.
If you don't have the proper gear, making a run to the store on the way to meet the group probably isn't a good idea. Know how to use your gear and if you don't know please ask for help by contacting the host or organizer and they'd be more than happy to help.
If you know you cannot make it but RSVP’d Yes to an event please change it to No or simply call. It makes it very inconvenient to plan events when people say they are going to come and then never show up.
Respect It's a good reminder to be respectful of others (in our group or not) and our environment. Whatever the event, learn a little about it. Google is a good source. Posting your questions on the message board is another great way. With dozens of members, your organizer will be overwhelmed with lots of general emails.
Your organizer has undoubtedly done the leg work for many other events and the one you are considering. They may not have done it to your standards or something may have been left out. But, THEY put in a lot of time to get it to where it is. Be appreciative and supportive. If you see something that needs to be addressed, then don’t start an alliance with other members and bitch. Come up with a possible solution and be
CONSTRUCTIVE. We want mature adults, not whiny brats.
This group will practice a “leave no trace” model. It will be our goal to leave an area in better shape than we found it.
Leadership Many of our activities will be new to some people. All have an element of risk. Some events have an element of danger. Rock climbing is apparent. Backpacking, not so much. But people do get lost, or hurt. Listen to the people in your group that have more experience. Take what they have to offer, evaluate it, but be appreciative. Sometimes what they offer is of no use to you. That’s OK. But don’t make the bad relationship with your Dad, their problem. We all come out here of our own accord. Your decisions are your responsibility and yours alone. But the organizers have an inherited obligation to help.
If you have a sport or event that you would like to lead, let us know. We’ll make you an “event host,” and let you run with it.
Children and Pets “Pain in the neck” pets and kids are never invited to our events. It’s not fair to the others. However, some of our events will be designed for families. If you have questions about if kids or pets may be included, email the organizer.
Removal of members At times, we will go through the membership list and clear out the people that have not been active in months. If that happens to you, don’t be upset. Just rejoin when you can participate.
We will also remove those that are just not desirable. If you are a pain, guilty of hitting on everyone, or soliciting your product or cult religion, that will get you removed. We have a no tolerance policy with members harassing other members. This is meant to be a safe & comfortable environment.
Just had to get a bunch of the formalities out of the way. We want everyone to feel safe and be safe so by following these guidelines we can efficiently provide that. Alright, let's go out and EXPLORE!
